ICAG VI Conferencia Internacional sobre Arquitectura y Genero

La semana pasada tuve la oportunidad de participar como ponente y moderadora en la ICAG VI Conferencia Internacional sobre Arquitectura y Genero centrado en el archivo (internacional) de mujeres en la arquitectura. EL congreso tuvo lugar en la ETSAV, Universidad de Valencia, del 3 al 6 de OCtubre, donde participaron diversos invitados y se presentaron diferentes trabajos de investigación sobre la arquitectura y el género femenino. Gracias a Eva Álvarez y Carlos Gómez por la invitación y al revista flat magazine por su artículo.

Last week I had the opportunity to participate as a speaker and moderator at the ICAG VI International Conference on Architecture and Gender focusing on the (international) archive of women in architecture. The conference took place at the ETSAV, University of Valencia, from the 3rd to the 6th of October, where several guests participated and different research works on architecture and the female gender were presented. Thanks to Eva Álvarez and Carlos Gómez for the invitation and the flat magazine for their review.

Los cuidados como herramienta de integración política.

Mi último artículo "Los cuidados como herramienta de integración política" ha sido publicado en la revista Astrágalo. Cultura de la Arquitectura y la Ciudad dentro de un número monográfico sobre Ciudad, Género y Cuidados. En este artículo escribo sobre cómo un un grupo de mujeres inglesas a finales del siglo XIX subvirtieron la marcada división entre las actividades productivas y reproductivas, entre hombre y a la mujer respectivamente, a través de utilizar los cuidados como herramienta de emancipación política. Al establecer lugares que ofrecían actividades relacionadas con los cuidados en el espacio público, en este caso hacia otras mujeres, ellas realizaron la primera transición en la definición de los cuidados de una actividad doméstica a convertirse en algo social. Este cambio posibilitó la incorporación de la mujer al tejido productivo al mismo tiempo que posibilitaron su presencia en el espacio urbano. El artículo analiza estos lugares, los clubs de mujeres en Londres que generaron los primeros movimientos sufragistas que desembocaron en el derecho al voto de la mujer en el Reino Unido y por tanto su participación en la política de su país.

My latest article "Care as a tool for political integration" has been published in the journal Astrágalo. Cultura de la Arquitectura y la Ciudad in a monographic issue on City, Gender and Care. In this article I write about how a group of English women at the end of the 19th century subverted the marked division between productive and reproductive activities, between men and women respectively, by using care as a tool for political emancipation. By establishing places that offered care-related activities in public space, in this case for other women, they made the first transition in the definition of care from a domestic activity to a social one. This change made possible the incorporation of women into the productive fabric and at the same time enabled their presence in the urban space. The article analyses these places, the women's clubs in London that generated the first suffragette movements that led to women's right to vote in the United Kingdom and therefore their participation in the politics of their country.
