Se premia a la revista Neutra/Neutra Magazine Awarded
Un breve post para anunciar que la revista Neutra de la que formo parte como redactora ha recibido el Premio Málaga de Fomento de la Arquitectura. Enhorabuena a todos los que trabajamos en ella y en especial a Juan Antonio, Paula y Vincent.
A brief post to announce that Neutra Magazine , in which I work as Editorial Staff, has been awarded with the Málaga Award for Promoting Architecture. Congratulation to all who work on it, and specially to Juan Antonio, Paula y Vincent. ;)
Ponencia en el Iº Congreso Universitario Andaluz “Investigación y Género”/ Lecture in the 1st Andalusian Congress "Research and Gender"-Sevilla
Marisa Vadillo -Ni diosas ni fregonas
El día 17 de Junio tuve la oportunidad de asistir al primer congreso universitario en materia de género en la ciudad de Sevilla. En dicho sympoium pude encontrar investigadores/as que han desarrollado sus trabajos de forma precisa hacia las cuestiones de género. En especial destacaría el trabajo de la artista Marisa Vadillo que ha intentado plasmar en su obra aquella investigaciones teóricas elaboradas en la Universidad de Sevilla. Su presentación que repasaba la figura de la mujer en el arte contemporáneo llegó a reflexiones que claramente he podido trasladar a la arquitectura.
Por otro lado, en la mesa donde presenté mi participación titulada "Mujeres en la ciudad. Rompiendo los límites de género del planteamiento urbano moderno”, pude escuchar el interesante trabajo de investigación sobre planeamiento y género de María Aguilar Alejandre.
Espero que este congreso continue y que la calidad sobre los estudios de género mejore de forma generalizada en la Universidad de Sevilla.
The 17th of June I had the opportunity to attend the First Symposium of Gender research in Seville. In this symposium I could find interesting scholars that have focused their research on gender studies. Specially I highlight the work of the artist and scholar Marisa Vadillo, who has tried to transfer her research developed in the University of Seville to her work of art. Vadillo´s presentetion reviewed the women figure in the contemporary art, reaching very interestig hypothesis that I can transalate to architecture.
On the other hand , the round table where I could lectured my work "Women in the city. Breaking gendered boundaries of Modern Urban Planning", I could listen the precise research work about planning decisions and gender identities by María Aguilar Alejandres.
I hope this tendency of supporting gender studies in University of Seville will continue in the future.

El pasado Jueves 28 de Mayo presenté parte de mi trabajo de Tesis doctoral en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares , dentro del Master en Proyecto de Arquitectura y Ciudad. Los estudiantes del Master de Postgrado mostraron bastante interés por saber cuáles son las connotaciones en la ciudad contemporánea de mis estudios sobre género y ciudad, algo que desarrollaré ampliamente en uno de los capítulos de mi tesis sobre el caso de Madrid.
Muchas gracias a los que asistísteis y sobre todo a JJ Barba. (Spiros muchas gracias por tus comentarios sobre la tesis)

Redefinition of modern urban planning limits by gender
Last Thurday 28th May I lectured a chapter of my Phd Thesis in the Alcalá de Henares University in the postgraduate Master in Architectural and Urban Project. The interest of post- graduate students was mainly awaken by the connotations of my studies about gender and the city in the contemporary urban environment. This argument will be developed in a chapter of my Phd that deals with the city of Madrid.
Thanks to all of you who were there and specially to JJ Barba. (Spiros thank you for your comments on the Thesis ).

El pasado Jueves 28 de Mayo presenté parte de mi trabajo de Tesis doctoral en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares , dentro del Master en Proyecto de Arquitectura y Ciudad. Comentarios sobre AA Phd Symposium/Comments on AA Phd Symposium

El pasado viernes día 8 de Mayo se celebró en la Architectural Association un Symposium sobre la ideología en la transparencia en la que tuve la oportunidad de entrar en contacto con diversos investigadores que trabajan sobre el tema en el Reino Unido. A parte de las presentaciones de los estudiantes de la AA que fueron excepcionales me gustaría destacar las intervenciones de Emma Cheatle y Yara Shariff por su peculiar forma de presnetar sus trabajos y su cercanía al trabajo que estoy realizando.
Emma Cheatle que estudia doctorado en Bartlett presentó su trabajo sobre la Maison du Verre a través de imagenes evocadoras, dibujos propios y escritura creativa.Sin duda bajo la influencia del nuevo estilo creado por Jane Rendell en su taller en Bartlett.Por otro lado yara Sharif presentó una serie de dibujos propios sobre experiencias cotidianas como Palestina tras las limitaciones espaciales israelís. Sin duda influenciado por el trabajo sobre la relación entre lo político y lo urbano que desarrolla Murray Fraser en Westminster.
Los alumnos de doctorado de la AA, Emanuel de Sousa y Kirk Wooller, bajo la tutela de Marina Lathouri presentaron un trabajo teórico muy elaborado donde la base era la cuestión del término ideología y su aplicación a la teoría contemporánea.

Last Friday, 8th of May, was held at the Architectural Association the Phd Symposium " Ideology in Transparency" in which I had the opportunity to get in contact with several researchers working on this issue in the United Kingdom. Besides the exceptional presentations by the students of the AA, I would emphasize Emma Cheatle and Yara Shariff´s interventions not only because of their peculiar lecture format but also for their closeness to my research work.
Emma Cheatle, who studies Phd in Bartlett, presented her doctoral work on the Maison du Verre through evocative images, drawings and creative writing. Surely under the influence of Jane Rendell´s new Phd writing style. In addition Yara Sharif, who studies at the University of Westminster, presented a series of drawings based on her own experience as Palestine after the Israeli space limitations. Undoubtedly influenced by the work on the relationship between politics and urban that Murray Fraser is developing in Westminster University.
AA PhD students, Emanuel de Sousa and Kirk Wooller, under the guidance of Marina Lathouri presented a very elaborate theoretical work about the term "ideology" and its application to contemporary theory.
An AA publication of the papers presented in the symposium will be presented soon.

Lecture/Conferencia AA PhD DialoguesThe 2nd Annual Architectural Association PhD Symposium
El próximo Viernes 8 de Mayo presentaré en el simposium de Phd en la Architectural Association "Ideología en la Transparencia" parte del trabajo de mi doctorado con el título " Reflexionando sobre el escaparate: Género y espacio urbano en el Paris de Haussmann y el Londres Eduardiano." Los ponentes que me acompañan presentarán otros trabajos en torno al tema de la transparecia muy interesantes. Echarle un vistazo a la página web.
Next friday the 8th I will lectured part of my Phd work in the Architectural Association Symposium "Ideology in Transparency" under the title:"Reflecting on the window shopping: Gender and Urban Space in Haussmann´s Paris and Edwardian London."
