Workshop Immediate Governance in Plymouth University

Esta semana he realizado un workshop con los alumnos de MArch en la Facultad de Aquitectura de la Universidad de Plymouth sobre el trabajo que hacemos desde Politics of Fabrication. Organizado en colaboracion con el tutor Krzysztof Nawratek el workshop proponia  repensar aquellos elementos que usamos a diario a los que no damos importancia y que tiene carga politica en su definicion. Especial gracias a Krzysztof Nawratek y Bob Brown, director de la escuela, por invitarnos.

This week I did a workshop with MArch students at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Plymouth related to the work we do from Politics of Fabrication. Organized in collaboration with the  MArch lecturer Krzysztof Nawratek, the workshop proposed to rethink those elements we use in our everyday live that we take for granted and hold a political charge in their definicion.Many thanks to Krzysztof Nawratek and Bob Brown, director of the School, for inviting us.

New Article in Swiss Architecture Magazine Archithese

Acaba de salir el ultimo numero de Archithese, Festarchitekturen, con un articulo escrito por Curro, Maria y yo, "Yes we Party. Spanish Fiesta as a political urban tool." En el exploramos el trabajo teorico con el que trabajamos en la unidad de diseno de la Architectural Association y en la oficina. Esta en ingles para aquellos que les gustaria saber de nuestro trabajo.

The latest issue of Archithese, Festarchitekturen, has just been launched. It has an article written by Curro, Maria and I, "Yes we Party. Spanish as a Political Party urban tool." There we explore the theoretical framework we work with  in the Architectural Association Unit and in the office. It is in English for those who would like to know a bit of our work. Enjoy it!

Segundo articulo en la Ciudad Viva - ¿Juegos para todos?

Podeis leer el ultimo articulo que he escrito para La Ciudad Viva sobre las polemicas que ha suscitado el Master Plan de los Juegos Olimpicos en Londres en el link: http://www.laciudadviva.org/blogs/?p=12755. En "¿Juegos para todos?" resumo la actuacion realizada por la GLA y la LDA para gestionar el suelo y las nuevas construcciones del Parque Olimpico desde el 2006 y las voces de aquellos que han luchado por un planeamiento mas plural.

Visita a la Universidad Iberoamericana

En nuestra viaje con los alumnos de la AA (Inter Unit 8) a Mexico DF hemos visitado la Universidad Iberoamericana. Inciamos nuestra visita presnetando nuestro trabajo en la conferencia titulada "Politics of Fabrication". Más tarde nuestros alumnos presentaron sus trabajos a un grupo de arquitectos, academicos y expertos en temas urbanos de Mexico DF: Jose Luis Cortes, Humberto Ricalde, Diego Ricalde, Tatiana Bilbao y Derek Dellerkamp. Entre varios temas se discutieron los problemas de segrgacion social y fisica generados por el transporte publico, las posibilidades de un urbanismo basado en elementos cotidianos como pueden ser las pulquerias, el conflicto que generan los tianguis con la privatizacion de los lugares comerciales y la relacion entre diferentes tradiciones culturales en relacion al tema de la muerte. El debate se cerro con una presentacion a cargo de la alumna Elelni Tzavellou sobre la ausencia de espacio democratico en la ciudad de Mexico.

In our unit trip with AA students (Inter Unit 8) we visited the Universidad Iberoamericana. We atrated our visit lecturing on our work at Politics if Fabrication. Later our students presented their work to a group of architects, academics and experts in urban Mexico City: Jose Luis Cortes, Humberto Ricalde, Ricalde Diego, Tatiana Bilbao and Derek Dellerkamp. Several issues were discussed , such as the problems of social and physical segrgacion generated by public transportation, the possibilities for an urbanism based on everyday items such as the taverns, the conflict generated by the flea with the privatization of commercial sites and the relationship between different cultural traditions in relation to the subject of death. The debate ended with a presentation by the student Elelni Tzavellou on the absence of democratic space in the city of Mexico.
