El última semana de Septiembre empezamos el nuevo curso académico 2011/12 en la Architectural Association, donde seguiremos trabajando sobre el concepto de Politicas de la Fabricación. Sin embargo, este año exploraremos la Plaza de las Tres Culturas, Tlatelolco, en Mexico DF, en donde las propuestas tratarán de encontrar la manera de dialogar con los límites que este área establece con el resto de la ciudad a la vez que crearán propuestas capaces de reactivar este límite urbano que anteriormente había sido el centro de la actividad política ciudadana de la ciudad, como las manifestaciones de estudiantes ocurridas en 1968. Last week of September we will start the new academic year 2011/12 in the Architectural Association. This year we will be working again with the concept of Politics of Fabrication, but this time we will explore the Plaza de las Tres culturas in Mexico DF.Proposals will be focus on finding a dialog strategy for the borders that this area has with the rest of the city urban fabric. students will create proposals able to reactivate this urban borderland that has been previously used for citizens political activity in the city, as in the 1968 students´demonstrations.Please check the website for more information.

Resultados del workshop Politics of Fabrication Laboratory

El pasado 12 de Agosto se clausuró la Escuela Visitante de la AA Politics of Fabrication Laboratory en la Ciudad Abierta, Ritoque, Chile. Los resultados han sido impresionantes con una estructura finalista construida para este entorno natural. "Cubriendo un lugar de encuentro" fue el diseño elegido para el que se utilizaron métodos de diseño digitales, Rhino y Grasshopper, traducidos a las técnicas tradicionales de construcción propias del lugar, la madera. La interesante mezcla de nacionalidades y experiencias pasadas del grupo de participantes han hecho posible este preciosos resultado que irá envejeciendo a través de los años en este paraje Chileno.

Muchas gracias a la UPCValparaiso, la Corporación Amereida y todos los participantes del workshop, Stavros Pappavassilou, Yonatan Buchhandler, Sebastian Silva, Fabienne Trotte, Hernan Pitto Bellocchio, Pablo Hormazabal, Alejandra Corral, Francisca Vidal Vergara, Pamela Gonzalez, Isadora Droppelmann, Alvaro Mercado y Oscar Andrade, y en especial a Mauricio Puentes, Rodrigo Saavedra y David Luza.

Last 12th of August finished the AA Visiting School Politics of Fabrication Laboratory at the Open City, Ritoque, Chile. The results have been impressive with a final structure built in the natural environment. "Ceiling meeting point" was the chosen design created by digital tools, Rhino and Grasshopper, and translated into traditional building techniques specific to the place in wood. The interesting mix of nationalities and backgrounds of the participants made possible this beautiful result, an installation that will naturally decay over the years in this Chilean landscape.

Summer School Valparaiso / Escuela de Verano en Valparaiso

The application period of the Summer School we are organizing from the Architectural Association in Valparaiso, Chile, has just been opened.The 12 days workshop "politics of Fabrication Laboratory" will be held between the Catholic University of Valparaiso and the Open City. The aim of this workshop is to reflect on the public space as the place for the political expression by designing and constructing an artefact in the Open City Campus. Studio 2 University of Cambridge Exhibition

Del 8 al 13 de Julio está expuesto en The Dairy el trabajo de los talleres de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Cambridge. Aquí podeis encontrar el trabajo de nuestros alumnos de Studio 2 Year 3. También existe una publicación que podeis adquirir en ARCSOC2011@gmail.com. Gracias a los alumnos y criticos invitados por ayudarnos a elaborar este trabajo.

The Architecture studios of the University of Cambridge will be exhibited in The Dairy from the 8th to the 13th of July. Here you can find our students´work from Studio 2 Year 3.
